Idea
While paying attention to a painting of the father of my oldest friend, which is called “Paisaje del regocijo” (“Landscape of rejoice”), I realized that, due to the artist play with the different planes, just by rotating the painting 90 degrees and making it horizontal, the landscape could be walked. And it could serve as a tool to introducing virtual world generation to the artist, by first making his current work walkable.
Design Principles
- A simple or foundational idea in one tool can be a complex idea in another tool
- Separating solid generation, texture and materials definition, and interaction allows using simpler, more semantic concepts
- Rosseta stone: one set of documentation for the artist, another for the nerd
- Use simple techniques that allow generating an emotional landscape
Current State
A proof of concept was made with the most simple setup: a picture was taken to the drawing, then it served as the ground for the world.
